A few months ago Chad and I started a new reward system with our kids. To sum it up, each chore and good deed they do can earn them points. Those same points can be taken away for fighting or disobeying. Then we have a list of Rewards with point values that the kids can work towards. The boys have been steadily earning points and it's done wonders with our chore time.
Carter is good about saving his up for the big stuff he really wants (i.e. Mario Kart). Liam, however tends to spend his points when we go grocery shopping. He just can't resist those Lucky Charms. But, lately he's seeing the value of saving a little more and earned enough to go to a museum. So off to the "Dinosaur museum" we went, or more formally know as the Witte Museum.
The Witte has a little of everything. The have a fine art section, a section on Native Americans, a section on Texas history, a section on egyptian mummies, a children's section and heck, you can even see the coronation dresses for the court of Festival. It's pretty funny how random it is and how little the main museum flows. But, they also host traveling exhibits and I was very, very glad that right now they've got a great little Dinasour museum. I'm not sure what I'm going to do when Liam wants to go to the Dinosaur museum next year and its no longer Dinosaurs.
We met some very realistic dinosaurs.
Unearthed some fossils.
Made the dinosaurs dance at a push of a button.
And then after the dinosaurs we explored a tree house
And played some drums.
Liam found some dinosaur friends to bring home.

The museum looks like a lot of fun! Since Dinasaurs seem to be a recurring theme for little boys, I suspect there will be a dinasaur museum somewhere in the area next year. :-) Grandpa still thinks they really had feathers though....purple ones. :-)
